One problem with surfing the Internet is that various cookies get stored on your computer as you browse the web, fill out forms and make an online purchase. The thing is, the next time you go back on to the web page, you’re remembered, including your username and password. This isn’t a good thing if you’re planning on using the same computer between multiple people, say between your family members.
The only snag is that storing this information means that you can’t often take advantage of an online discount, or coupon, twice, as you’ve already made a purchase. Say an online wine store gave you a 20% discount coupon. Once you’ve used this coupon, your username and other info is stored as a cookie, so they know you’ve already ordered. Delete this information and you can login and register as a new user.
The most obvious way around this is to delete your cookies every time you close your web browser. However, forget to close the browser and the cookies remain. The other option is to install a tool or an add-on that will enable you to manage your cookies and account, in the same way you could have multi-user accounts on your computer.
CookieSwap is a cookie swap manager for Firefox that enables you to setup multiple users from one web browser and swap between their configurations and cookie settings, without having to delete the cookies from your system.
