Avaya Notification tackles incident response

New solution designed to improve communications during emergencies

Telecoms equipment vendor Avaya has launched an application designed to boost enterprise communications during an emergency.

Avaya Notification Solution is a SIP-based tool that can bring together a number of individuals and work teams in one conference call in the event of an emergency.

The company said that the system can be triggered manually, or by a third party application, to contact and alert "first line response" members using voice or email. If the first line of defence is not available, a second line is contacted automatically.

Avaya suggested that likely situations could range from "business issues", such as a retailer running out of a key product, right up to environmental emergencies such as a hurricane warning.

The firm also released Avaya Proactive Outreach for Financial Services (PDF), which lets companies manage contact and self-service interaction with customers. The system uses voice recognition to streamline the application and approval process, the firm claimed.

"These applications bring the innovation of Avaya Aura to the forefront of business communications needs, putting real-time communications to work and driving the collaborative processes essential for competing in today's business environment," said Greg Billings, vice president of Avaya Global Professional Services.

Avaya Notification Services and Proactive Outreach for Financial Services are available now.
