Law firm Field Fisher Waterhouse (FFW) has teamed up with RSA Security and consultancy KPMG to launch a new web site designed to provide firms that have suffered a data breach with a direct "conduit" to relevant expert help.

The Breach Action site was the brainchild of Stewart Room, head of FFW's data security practice, who realised that providing an holistic support service to affected firms would need the help of consulting and security technology experts.

"The site is a vehicle to get to the right people with the right credentials, a speedy conduit to trusted and reliable organisations regarded as market leading which can take days of pain away," he said.

The site features a contact form which will be the beginning of a seven-step process "for the handling of the incident and its aftermath and consequences", culminating in the execution of a joint plan of action.

There are also contact details for key contacts, and information on the full list of services provided by FFW, RSA and KPMG.

Also offered are half-day incident readiness workshops designed to prepare companies for the possibility of a data breach.

Room said that he is also in discussion with several second-tier service providers regarding the provision of other important services to help firms affected by breaches, including credit reference and public relations agencies.

He warned that an increasingly unforgiving regulatory environment at a national and European level would "bite any organisation in breach".
