String of patches for OSX, iPhone and QuickTime

Apple has released a security update containing 47 fixes for a host of products, including Mac OS X, the iPhone and the QuickTime media player.

The OS X patches cover the Leopard and Snow Leopard operating systems, as well as interoperability with third-party software from Adobe, Samba, MySQL and PHP.

The patch fixes 33 vulnerabilities in Leopard, and one in Snow Leopard. Apple's iPhone received patches for a variety of components, including CoreAudio, WebKit and MobileMail.

The QuickTime update, meanwhile, included four patches, some of which were critical in that they allowed remote takeover of a user's computer using specially crafted malware.

One of the more worrying series of patches covered the ClamAV antivirus product Apple is using. The fixes covered serious flaws that could allow remote code execution on systems being attacked.

Apple has also issued another Flash update, in addition to last week's update.
