HP has announced a new HP Mini business-focused netbook, as well as a new addition to its ProBook family of laptops launched earlier this year.

The HP Mini 5101 is described by HP as its top-of-the-line netbook model for on-the-go professionals. With a weight of about 1.2kg and a 10.1in display, the system is similar to many other netbook models, but with more attention paid to style and durability, according to the firm.

The netbook features an anodised aluminium display enclosure with a black, brushed finish, plus magnesium alloy in the chassis. The spill-resistant keyboard is 95 per cent of the size of a full PC keyboard, with raised 'chiclet' keys.

The 5101 is based on Intel's Atom N280 processor with up to 2GB memory and hard drive options up to 160GB, with 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It is expected to be available from late July.

Meanwhile, the HP ProBook 4310s shares the same basic design and styling as the current ProBook models, but is smaller, shipping with a 13.3in display and weighing in at just under 2Kg.

The 4310s is based on Intel Core 2 Duo processors up to 2.8GHz, and ships with up to 4GB memory, upgradable to 8GB, and hard drive options up to 500GB. As well as 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, customers can specify an optional HP Mobile Broadband module.

The HP ProBook 4310s is expected to be available in the US in July at a starting price of $799 (£483). UK pricing and availability have yet to be announced.
