Software has introduced a new version of its
UniPaaS
application platform, which enables .Net integration for rich internet
applications (RIAs), and support for mobile devices, according to the firm.
Available immediately, UniPaaS v1.8 builds on the platform's ability to
produce a single code base that can be deployed as an RIA, full-blown client
software, or a web-based service.
Unlike other RIA platforms, UniPaaS uses a metadata driven approach to allow
developers to speedily build applications, according to Magic.
The new release adds support for Windows Mobile, enabling customers to
provide mobile workers in the field with access to applications as RIA or
software-as-a-service from handheld devices.
With .Net integration for both PCs and mobile devices, UniPaaS now enables IT
departments to create rich business applications that maximise the capabilities
of the client-side user interface, while providing complete connectivity to
external devices and easier reuse of existing code, Magic said.
"Applications developed today will continue to deliver value in five, 10 or
even 15 years' time. Our customers will be able to take full advantage of the
technological opportunities that will exist by then," said Magic Software chief
technology officer Avikam Perry.
