Smartphone users worried about losing their handset or having it stolen may now have a simple solution in the shape of the Wireless Leash from Zomm, which alerts you if you leave your phone behind or someone tries to walk away with it.

The Wireless Leash is a fairly simple idea - it is a device that links to your phone via Bluetooth, and which vibrates, flashes and sounds an alarm if the distance between you and your phone exceeds a customisable distance, between 20-40 feet.

The device is slightly larger than a £2 coin and doubles as a key fob, so you can keep it on your person all the time.

However, the downside is that it is powered by an internal lithium-ion battery that needs recharging after about three days, using a micro USB connector.

The Wireless Leash also doubles as a speakerphone, allowing users to take hands-free calls by pressing the Z button on the front of the device.

Zomm also claims that the Wireless Leash further acts as a panic alarm, sounding an alert if the button is held down. If the user continues to hold the button down, it can use the phone to dial a pre-programmed number and connect to the emergency services.

The Wireless Leash costs £69.95, and is expected to be available from retail outlets in the near future.
