Honda tells Siri to get into its cars

  • Tweet this

Honda has joined the list of car makers to bring integration with Apple's Siri digital assistant to their vehicles.

The car dealer will put Siri into 2013 Honda Accord, Acura RDX and Acura ILX models of their cars. Siri will be offered as an optional tool for future buyers of Honda vehicles. Honda joins the likes of Chevy who also recently signed a Siri deal with Apple.

"[The] iPhone has become so integral to people's lives that they continue to use them in their vehicles," said assistant vice president of automobile product planning at American Honda, Vicki Poponi.

"Offering Honda and Acura owners Siri and its Eyes Free mode via Bluetooth is an incredible opportunity to provide next-generation connectivity and meet our customer's ever-changing needs."

Siri gets into Honda's using an "Eyes Free" mode which will allow drivers to synch their voice-robot with their car. With the integration drivers can make calls, get directions, and compose texts.

Honda now becomes the second car manufacturer to integrate Siri into their vehicles. Chevy announced its doing the same thing earlier this month.

While having Siri control in your car gives Apple some leeway in the car market Google still has the upper hand. The search giant's robots can actually drive your car for you. Score one for Google.
