Many businesses like to brag when they get placed on one of those 'best places to work' lists, but few can match the enviable position of analytics firm SAS. Based in Cary, North Carolina, the company was recently voted the number one place to work in the US by Fortune magazine for the second year in a row.
V3.co.uk was on site at the Cary campus this week and took a few photos to find out just what makes this company so beloved by its staff, and this coincided with the launch of the firm's latest addition, the Exectuive Briefing Centre (EBC).
Below: Building C, which hosts the EBC, is the second largest building on campus and has been built to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards by attempting to reduce water consumption by 30 per cent by using rainwater, and reduce energy use by 20 per cent through solar thermal heating technology.
Below: The site covers 287,190 square feet and has 683 offices - one for every member of staff in the building (something that every SAS building has). It's just one of the unique ways SAS provides for its staff, alongside healthcare, child daycare centres, gyms and unlimited sick leave.
Below: One acre of the roof of Building C is covered in sedum to help filter and slow the run-off of rainwater and keep the building cool. The firm's chief executive, Jim Goodnight, actually lives on campus in a house situated a mile or so into the woods you can see at the top of this picture.
Below: Other buildings on campus have unique and unusual features, such as an arboretum within one of the central reception areas and restaurants.
Below: There's even a meditation garden where staff can unwind, or solve a tricky coding problem that's been bugging them. Now how many firms can boast that?
