For those of us seeking more comfort while we type, Microsoft has updated the Comfort Curve Keyboard 3000 and will make it available from August.

According to a blog post by the Redmond giant, the keyboard will give better support to both users’ wrists and posture.

The keyboard will go on sale for $24.95 in the US at Amazon, Office Depot and the Microsoft Store. Microsoft has not yet given details of how UK keyboard users can get their hands on one.

Dan Odell, a certified ergonomist and Microsoft’s resident comfort expert, says the keyboard had been three years in the making.

Odell adds that the original Comfort Curve has been updated in two major ways with this release.

“First, the QWERTY keys are uniformly sized in a way that is more similar to a standard straight keyboard. That increases the familiarity,” says Odell in the blog post.

“Second, the curve has been modified to be more organic – adding curvature in the third dimension. That increases the comfort.”

Tech Boutique has been impressed by the hardware news coming from Microsoft recently.

Last month Microsoft announced the Artist Studio Series for the Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500, a brand new collection of mice with artwork commissioned by five premier artists from around the world. Also in September last year, Microsoft revealed the Arc Touch Mouse, the first mouse designed “to flatten for portability and pop up for comfort”.
