The demand for storage is spiralling, fuelled by the surge in internet use in businesses. Analysts are now claiming that customers will require twice as much capacity this year as last year, and will need twice as much again the following year. As a result, the market is becoming highly competitive, with vendors jostling for position in an attempt to grab a healthy slice of the pie. But many of the traditional players are looking shaky as the industry moves to new models such as network attached storage and storage area networks.
