Dual-core processor technology is likely to be big news at the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco this year.

A dual-core processor effectively bundles two processors onto a single computer chip, boosting performance with only a limited increase in power consumption.

Intel's arch-rival AMD has already showed its hand, unveiling a dual-core x86 Opteron. And it will be up to Intel to try and steal back some momentum by showcasing its own dual-core roadmap.

Analysts are already warning that this will spark a new processor arms race as the two chip companies attempt to out-do each other.

Another area of interest is likely to be the long range wireless technology known as WiMax.
