The Intel Developer Forum is where the chip giant reveals the plans that will do much to shape the computing environment.

The theme of this year's event in San Francisco is 'Tomorrow's Platforms: Your Possibilities Unleashed', and much discussion is likely to centre on developments such as dual-core chips and new products for the digital home. The WiMax wireless broadband technology may also be another area of interest.

Systems developers and engineers will hear keynotes from heavyweights including Intel chief executive Craig Barrett, and Pat Gelsinger, senior vice president and general manager of the digital enterprise group.

In addition, the showcase area will feature the latest Intel technology demonstrations as well as representatives from more than 300 other companies.
