Linux: in it for the long haul or a flash in the pan?

Linux has been variously described as a Microsoft Windows NT killer and an over-hyped, overrated flash in the pan. While the open source operating system is undoubtedly maturing, we look at what the analysts have to say about this interesting phenomenon and whether it is suitable yet for deployment in the enterprise.
