Polycom has unveiled a pair of video conferencing systems designed for Microsoft's Lync unified communications platform.
The company said that its CX5500 and CX5100 Unified Conference Stations would allow users to establish video conference calls through a USB connection on a desktop or notebook system.
Designed for Microsoft's Lync communications platform, the CX systems will offer 1080p video capture and VOIP communications over broadband internet connections. The unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) systems will offer 360-degree video recording and audio capture.

“Our custom-built for Lync solutions such as the new panoramic video collaboration experience, and our leading portfolio of Lync interoperable offerings, enable Polycom and Microsoft to win business from organisations seeking UC&C solutions that empower people to collaborate however, wherever and whenever they want.”
Designed for ease of use, the CX systems will sport a simplified connectivity process, which allows users to connect the hardware via USB and configure the unit for both conventional and touchscreen systems through the Lync software.
The release is part of a larger effort by Polycom to tie its unified communications products into the Microsoft Lync platform. The company unveiled the initiative in 2011 as part of a campaign to expand its collaboration platform.
