VMware has updated its vCenter Operations Management Suite and vFabric Application Director tools, with enhancements found in the virtualisation firm's vCloud Suite.
VMware's updated tools come to market following their announcement at VMworld Barcelona last October. Along with the new offerings VMworld has also introduced a new application marketplace.
"In the cloud era, customers must think holistically about how they manage their multi-cloud, multi-platform and multi-vendor resources," said vice president and general manager of cloud infrastructure and management at VMware, Ramin Sayar.
"With the VMware vCloud Suite, VMware brings together what customers need to build and manage a cloud infrastructure as well as new and existing applications by automating infrastructure operations to help IT evolve into a broker of services to the business."
The updated vCloud suite tools were announced last month at a VMware event in Barcelona.
VMware's vCenter Operations Management Suite is an automated operations management utility that uses patented analytics techniques to provide real-time analysis of performance and capacity.
The vCenter Operations Management Suite has been updated to version 5.6. VMware's update now offers a new compliance dashboard, customisable group-based viewing, and cloud app monitoring by way of integration with the vFabric Hyperic suite component.
The firm's vFabric Application Director is a cloud-enabled application provision and maintenance tool. VMware's vFabric solution allows for users to accelerate deployment of multi-tier cloud apps through application blueprints which offer pre-approved middleware and operating system components.
VMware's updates to the vFabric tool brings added support for app deployments across multi-virtual and hybrid clouds. The update also carries expanded support for packaged apps and new support for auto-scaling applications.
Along with the updates, VMware is also bringing its Cloud Applications Marketplace to consumers. The new marketplace will offer users a place to predefined app blueprints for use with the vFabric solution.
VMware says that the Marketplace will come with 100-plus downloadable app blueprints and reference tools.
The updated versions of vFabric and vCenter are generally available starting now. Both updated solutions come pre-packaged in VMware's vCloud suite.
