Wyse has updated its thin client line-up with a model certified for compatibility with Microsoft's RemoteFX technology, the first such device available, the firm said.

Available immediately, the Wyse R10L is based on the firm's proprietary ThinOS platform, which has now been updated with certified support for RDP 7, the latest version of Microsoft's remote display technology, including the RemoteFX capabilities.

RemoteFX, which debuted in Windows Server 2008 R2, enables users to get the full Windows Aero experience in a remote desktop session, with improved support for full-motion video and even applications with 3D graphics.

"We are pleased to enable our customers to take advantage of the rich user experience, optimised security, performance, connectivity and simplicity of the Wyse R10L, based on the ultra-fast Wyse ThinOS zero framework," said Ricardo Antuna, senior vice president for product management at Wyse.

Wyse said the fast start-up time of the new R10L enables users to login to a Windows session within seconds, and also extolled the security of its ThinOS which has no published APIs and no file system, limiting the attack surface for hackers and malware.

The new R10L is priced from £313 not including VAT.

Meanwhile, Wyse also updated its high-end Z90 thin clients with a model that supports PCI Express (PCIe) expansion, enabling it to support a broader range of peripheral hardware devices.

The Z90DE7 is based on AMD Fusion processors and runs Windows Embedded Standard 7, like existing models. It can support up to six displays, according to Wyse.
