Sapphire Now: SAP to run entire ERP portfolio on Hana

MADRID: SAP has revealed that all of its enterprise resource planning (ERP) software will run on Hana in two years' time.

The company did not specify a timeframe for the integration, but SAP chief information officer Oliver Bussman told V3 that it should only be two years before customers can have all their SAP software running on the big data analytics technology.

Meanwhile, Vishal Sikka, head of technology at SAP, said during his keynote at Sapphire Now that the Business One ERP suite for small businesses is likely to be the first application that will run entirely on Hana, and that customers can expect its launch later this next year.

Sikka promised customers that their ERP systems will not be disrupted by selecting the Hana database in place of the database they currently use.

"These [Hana] innovations are not enough by themselves. They must make their way into everything we do. We are bringing these innovations to every single platform and product we have, like NetWeaver for example," he said.

Bjoern Goerke, head of SAP NetWeaver, said that Hana will be used by the NetWeaver Gateway so that customers can use Hana on any device.

Hana will be integrated with NetWeaver Business Process Management to allow customers to "gain real-time insights from their processes", he added.

Finally, Hana will be used to power NetWeaver Master Data Management to provide "insights from structured ERP data as well as pulling in unstructured data from social networks", said Goerke.
