Apple has released multiple updates for both its desktop and mobile products alongside the iOS 5 and iCloud updates.
The company on Wednesday posted updates for OS X Lion and Safari, along with new versions of iPhoto, MobileMe Controller, Aperature and the iPhone Configuration Utility.
For OS X Lion client and server systems, the update will add support for iCloud along with a number of stability fixes. The update will seek to improve the performance of full-screen applications, as well as the menu bar and mission-control interface components.
The update also contains more than 40 fixes for various security vulnerabilities in both Mac OS X 10.6 and 10.7 systems.
Safari, meanwhile, has been updated to version 5.1.1. The update will include support for iCloud, along with the addition of the Reading List bookmarks system, and support for drag and drop navigation of downloads.
Additionally, the update will bring multiple security fixes for both the Safari browser itself and the WebKit engine. The patches include fixes for remote code execution vulnerabilities in both OS X and Windows.
Many of the remaining updates, including those for Aperture, iPhoto and the MobileMe Control Panel, centre on adding support for iOS 5 and iCloud. The company announced the products earlier this month and both will be supported by the iPhone 4S upon its formal release later this week.
Though the device received a lukewarm response from industry pundits, early figures suggest the launch will be Apple's most successful iPhone release to date.
Gartner research vice president Carolina Milanesi told V3 that in addition to major features such as wi-fi updates and the iOS 5 update, the company will introduce a number of minor updates such as tabbed browsing and less intrusive notification boxes.
"Improvements such as these are relatively minor, but we believe they contribute to keeping iOS 5 current in the market," Milanesi said.
