Virtualisation security specialist HyTrust has agreed a pair or deals that the company hopes will extend the reach of its virtualisation security appliance.

The company said that it had agreed to integrate its security platforms with the Trend Micro Deep Security and CA Access Control for virtual environments tools.

The move means HyTrust's appliance will benefit from additional security features as well as monitoring and compliance capabilities.

Designed for virtualised platforms, the HyTrust appliance allows administrators to monitor traffic and set policies on virtual machines.

Eric Chiu, HyTrust president and founder, told V3 that virtualised security and monitoring tools have become increasingly important as enterprises continue to move their IT infrastructures towards virtual machines.

"With that growth in virtual servers, companies are rapidly virtualising mission-critical and compliance applications," Chiu said.

"These traditional vendors need to have solutions that address their customer needs in virtual environments as well as physical."

To help protect those systems, HyTrust is looking to secure a number of partner deals with security and data management firms. Rather than provide a single screen to manage third-party tools, Chiu said the company will integrate itself with other platforms, functioning as a tab for other management tools.

"We are trying to enable systems management and security vendors to integrate security and policies into their products as well as enforce policies in their environment," he explained.

"If we tried to make it so everyone had to use our management space it would be an uphill battle."
