HP has introduced consulting services aimed at helping customers make the most of collaboration platforms, with a clear focus on implementing Microsoft's SharePoint 2010.
HP Collaboration Consulting Services, delivered globally through HP Technology Consulting, are intended to modernise and extend a client's existing collaboration infrastructure by streamlining resources, improving governance and reducing infrastructure sprawl, according to the firm.
However, it appears that HP's strategy is entirely focused on helping customers deploy SharePoint 2010, with services available to migrate from rival platforms to Microsoft's collaboration system.
"HP helps clients standardise and migrate data and applications from legacy systems, such as Lotus Notes and Novell GroupWise, and consolidate resources," the company said in a statement.
HP also offers transformation services to provide strategy, assessment, roadmap and design services, aimed at helping customers build up a new collaboration environment to meet their requirements.
"Employees are often disconnected from the information and resources that help them best navigate their roles," said Tom Norton, HP's director of Microsoft and Client Consulting.
HP said it can help customers improve their SharePoint environment with governance assurance and design services that set guidelines for proper use of SharePoint. It can also work with them to classify, store and locate documents into an organised structure that increases information usability.
Pricing for HP Collaboration Consulting Services varies according to location and the exact implementation, HP said.
