McAfee has released a security platform designed to offer combined protection for home computers, mobile phones, tablets and netbooks.

McAfee All Access provides traditional PC and Mac desktop security, along with web monitoring, filtering tools and anti-theft tools.

The package is designed for consumers and home offices with multiple devices, and is offered as a £69.99 single-user licence and a £99.99 family bundle. Both include lifetime technical support.

"Users now have the protection they need without having to make buying decisions for each of their devices, or go through the hassle of dealing with individual licences each time they want to add or eliminate a device," said McAfee co-president Todd Gebhart.

Stephen Baker, vice president of industry analysis for the NPD Group, told V3 that the market for converged security platforms is still developing, and that customers are looking to protect multiple devices through a single control panel, such as Apple's MobileMe.

Baker suggested that McAfee All Access could also be a big seller in the home office and small business markets, particularly at office supply and electronics retailers.

"For the most part they really do look more like consumers than medium and enterprise businesses," he said. "Most of the issues they have tend to be more towards the consumer business side."
