Samsung Series 6

Samsung is touting the durability of its new Series 6 laptop, claiming that it can withstand up to 1,000kg of pressure and a fall from up to 76cm, while featuring Intel's latest vPro technology.

Available now, the Samsung Series 6 comes with high security and durability features for peace of mind, according to the firm. Prices start at £625 plus VAT.

However, few of its features are unique to Samsung, and most are in fact available on many other business laptops on the market.

The new Series 6 features a Duracase ProMG chassis with a magnesium back that can withstand up to 1,000kg of force on its 15.6in display, plus solid metal alloy hinges, an anti-shock hard drive and a spill-resistant keyboard.

For business users, the Series 6 supports fingerprint scanning for security, and Trusted Platform Module technology, and is compatible with Absolute Software's anti-theft tracking service.

"The Samsung Series 6 is an important addition to our notebook portfolio as Samsung strives to become one of the top three notebook vendors by the end of 2012," said Damian Cusick, Samsung's general manager for computing products in the UK and Ireland.

The Series 6 is based on Intel's vPro platform, with a 2.3GHz Core i5 2410M processor, 4GB memory, 500GB hard drive and a Super Multi Dual Layer DVD writer.

Connectivity is via 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and gigabit Ethernet, plus the laptop has an Express Card slot for expansion.
