Automation software vendor UC4 has introduced a tool to help businesses manage and control IT infrastructure and better meet service level agreements (SLAs).

The UC4 Service Level Governor can monitor on-premise and virtual IT environments to identify patterns that could affect service delivery.

"We have always concentrated on automating IT processes, from core IT processes to dynamically provisioning capacity in the cloud," said Mark Nation, UC4 vice president of marketing.

"Now people want more management and control of how that IT landscape is performing and serving users."

Christian Plaichner, head of global accounts at UC4, said that the company spotted the need for a product which can forecast any breach of SLAs "because so many business people feel they are now driven by SLAs".

Plaicher explained that the tool has been developed for business users rather than IT departments.

"Staff will just be able to see the SLAs that apply to their departments so they can check that critical processes are running fine. It has a web face interface that is very easy to use," he said.

The Service Level Governor has a real-time dashboard that monitors SLAs and forecasts their completion time and associated costs.

The tool also has an advanced analytic capability that automatically seeks patterns to show why IT problems arise in order to prevent future SLA breaches.
