Huawei has been granted an injunction against ZTE in the ongoing patent case  between the two Chinese telecoms equipment vendors.

A Huawei spokesperson described the ruling as a victory for the company.

"Huawei has received the injunction as part of our legal claim that ZTE is infringing on our trademark," the spokesperson said.

"We welcome the decision, which will protect our innovation and intellectual property."

The ruling is the latest turn in the fight between the two vendors over patent violations. Both companies accuse the other of running foul of patents regarding mobile networks, particularly technology related to Long Term Evolution 4G wireless broadband networks.

Huawei fired the first shot in April, alleging that ZTE had infringed on its patents for LTE and data card systems. A day later, ZTE countered with a suit of its own, claiming that Huawei had infringed on ZTE patents for LTE systems.

The case with ZTE is not the only high-profile legal saga in which Huawei has been involved. The company was forced to back out of a proposed acquisition of 3leaf earlier this year amid security concerns from regulators in the US.

After the deal was killed, Huawei issued an open letter to the US government asking for a dialogue over its views and policies towards the company.

The letter also suggested that competitors were conspiring to prevent Huaweil from entering the lucrative US telecoms market.
