HP has expanded its business notebook and tablet line with new EliteBook and ProBook models designed to offer superior performance and improved security with the firm's ProtectTools functionality.

The HP ProBook 5330m comes in at less than 1in thick, sports a 13.3in HD screen and weighs 1.7kg.

It is powered by the latest second-generation Intel Core i5 and i3 dual-core processors, and comes with HP ProtectTools, a built-in security system enabling central security management and a range of optional extras including drive encryption and patch management.

The 5330m also boasts HP Fingerprint Sensor functionality for extra security and a back-lit keyboard which the firm claims will help typing in low light environments.

HP also announced the EliteBook 2560p notebook PC and EliteBook 2760p tablet, both of which feature the same ProtectTools for added security.

Under the bonnet they are powered by second-generation Intel Core i7 or i5 dual-core processors, Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 and vPro technology.

The EliteBook 2560p features a clamshell design with an LED-backlit HD 16in by 9in display and an optical drive, while the tablet has the added benefit of a touch-screen display. Both feature full-size 7,200rpm hard drives as well as solid-state drives for longer battery time, improved durability and quieter, cooler operation, HP said.

HP is also shipping its 2560p Docking Station, designed to offer business users improved connectivity options for the EliteBook.

The docking station features four USB ports and eSATA, DisplayPort and VGA ports for a range of external devices.

The HP ProBook 5330m starts at £499 ex VAT and is expected to be available in June, while the EliteBook 2560p starts at £699 ex VAT and will be on sale at around the same time. The The HP EliteBook 2760p will start from around £1,199.
