Microsoft is planning to issue just two patches for its Office and Windows Server software next week.
The Patch Tuesday release for May will be among the smallest Microsoft has delivered in recent months, having issued the biggest Patch Tuesday update in its history last month.
One of the two patches for next week is listed as a 'critical' fix, while the second is classified as 'important'.
The critical bulletin addresses a security vulnerability in Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2008 R2, according to Microsoft's Security Bulletin Advance Notification.
Desktop versions of Windows, including Windows 7 and XP, are not listed as vulnerable to the flaw. Microsoft typically releases additional information on the flaws after the patch has been released.
The second bulletin addresses vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office for systems running the latest service pack versions of Office XP, 2003 and 2007. Microsoft is also planning to release an update for Office for Mac 2004 and 2008.
The patch will also update the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool and the Microsoft Update and Windows Update components.
