Mozilla has released an update to address security vulnerabilities in its Firefox web browser.
The Firefox 4.0.1, 3.6.17 and 3.5.19 updates patch seven security holes, including four classified by Mozilla as 'critical' security risks.
Mozilla warned that, if exploited, each of the four critical flaws could be used by an attacker to remotely execute code on a targeted system. The flaws include vulnerabilities in the browser's Java Embedding plug-in and WebGLES component.
Also addressed in the update are two vulnerabilities which Mozilla has classified as 'moderate' security risks. The flaws could allow for data theft attacks and a condition in which data could be accessed from "non-permitted locations".
Rounding out the update is an issue classified as a 'low' risk leak issue in the browser.
The update comes as Mozilla continues to rack up record download numbers for Firefox 4, which recently surpassed the 100 million download mark.
Firefox 4 users as well as those running previous version of the browser will be able to receive the patch through Firefox's automatic update feature.

Firefox crashes?
You didn't say which O/S you are running FF under. I run it under FC13 and have never had FF crash. Well maybe once, a long time ago.

Still crashing, and now slower...
I was hoping the first update to FF4 would fix the crashes that I experience several times a day. Sadly not. Mozilla have also changed the way cached pages reload at startup (you know, like after a crash), making the browser appear slower.
