Software-as-a-service vendor Active Endpoints is looking to simplify the process of generating customised content within the Salesforce CRM platform.

The company's Cloud Extend platform allows managers and sales consultants to build guides and support materials for staff without the need for heavy coding or IT support.

Managers can map out scenarios and instructions for telemarketers and sales staff in different situations on the fly. The instructions then appear within the employee's Salesforce CRM interface, offering step-by-step instructions for handling a call or sales visit.

Mark Taber, chief executive for Active Endpoints, told V3.co.uk that the aim of the platform is to eliminate the need for IT staff or outside developers when adding minor customisations for sales tools.

"When people start using these services and see they don't quite run the way their businesses run, they try to customise them, but to do any meaningful type of customisation they are forced to go to their IT department or outside service providers," he said.

"The concept behind Cloud Extend is to make this easy enough for the businessperson. This should be as easy to use as PowerPoint."

Cloud Extend can also tie in with other Active Endpoints services to integrate Salesforce data with third-party services as well as on-premise applications for enterprises that wish to further extend that platform with the help of IT staff.

Active Endpoints is offering the Cloud Extend platform as an "early access" programme. Companies can enrol and obtain a free trial subscription through the Active Endpoints web site.

The platform is set for general launch near the end of the summer.
