Network reporting firm NetEvidence has updated its Highlight monitoring tool to offer improved visibility into the performance of cloud hosting or managed services providers to ensure that service level agreements (SLAs) are met.

The Service Assurance Cloud upgrade allows IT managers to easily track and monitor the performance of cloud hosted applications, such as CRM or VoIP systems, on their networks, according to NetEvidence.

Andy Scutt, technical director at NetEvidence, explained to V3.co.uk that the tool can be customised for each application to alert staff when performance moves outside of the SLA.

"Firms can set the Highlight tool to alert them if an applications drops below the SLA that they've set, and this can be done for multiple systems or locations, so IT managers can ensure staff are able to access these tools," he said.

"By providing this application businesses and service providers have a standard measurement system on which they can agree if a SLA has been broken."

Scutt added that NetEvidence has been developing the tool for about a year having realised that the growing use of cloud applications hosted remotely means that organisations require such a tool.

"As firms became more confident outsourcing the management of their networks we thought they would do so with applications and that both parties would need a measurement tool that they could agree on when monitoring SLAs," he said.

The Service Assurance Cloud upgrade will go live in early June, and is free for existing customers and is a standard part of the cloud hosted Highlight tool for any new customers at £15 per month.
