Customers of business intelligence (BI) vendor QlikTech will now be able to access up-to-date information on their iPads after the launch of a dedicated app for the tablet.
QlikTech said that its QlikView BI application for the iPad differs from competing offerings because the reports are not "prepackaged and static".
"They may have good-looking visuals, but their limited views, predefined paths, pre-canned reports, and lack of up-to-date data mean they aren't always the smartest solutions," said QlikTech UK managing director Sean Farrington.
"QlikView for iPad is a 'smart pad' experience that takes advantage of QlikView's core strengths. It lets users explore information up, down and sideways, make any associations they choose, and precisely customise so it maps 100 per cent to their individual requirements."
The increasingly popular QlikView has been commended by analyst firms like Gartner for its simplicity. The self service BI means that end users can deploy the application themselves and choose what data they combine, from complex ERP, CRM and warehouse systems to Excel spreadsheets.
QlikTech said that the iPad application has a touch-driven interface, supports all familiar iPad gestures and automatically switches from portrait to landscape as the tablet is moved around.
QlikView for iPad is HTML5-based and delivered through the Safari web browser, boosting security and manageability, the firm said.
The application is available from today to download at no extra charge for existing customers.
