Web host and ISP Fasthosts has launched a range of business broadband packages, offering enterprise users download speeds of up to 40Mbit/s.

The entry-level ADSL Lite package offers up to 24Mbit/s, but data use is capped at 20GB a month. This package costs £21.58 including VAT.

SMEs that require an unlimited allowance can upgrade to the ADSL Premium package, which costs £27.59 per month. Customers receive the same 24Mbit/s download speed together with unlimited monthly data and one static IP address.

Fasthost also offers its flagship VDSL Premium package, which delivers speeds of up to 40Mbit/s using fibre optic cabling for £47.99 including VAT. Users also get an upload speed of up to 10Mbit/s, unlimited downloads and two static IP addresses.

Faster ADSL helps support home working requirements as it enables quicker VPN access to internal systems, the firm said.

"Many businesses prefer a one-stop shop approach to buying their internet services. For some, that means making do with sub-standard hosting or ADSL bolted on by their ISP," said Steve Holford, marketing director at Fasthosts.

Meanwhile, Virgin Media is offering a 100Mbit/s broadband service for £35 a month when bought with a phone line, or £45 a month as a standalone product.

The 100Mbit/s service is available in 33 towns at the time of writing, and the Virgin Broadband schedule gives dates of rollout times to other regions.

However, many Virgin Media customers continue to be frustrated by internet problems and V3.co.uk has had nearly 100 users complaining about a lack of access to email.
