A $625.5m court judgement against Apple for patent infringement has been thrown out by a Texas judge.
Last year a court ruled that Apple had infringed on three patents owned by Mirror Worlds with its Cover Flow software, Time Machine backup system and the search capabilities of Spot Light.
Apple vowed to contest the case and a judge has now reversed the ruling, saying that Mirror Worlds did not have enough evidence to support its claims in the original trial.
"Mirror Worlds may have painted an appealing picture for the jury, but it failed to lay a solid foundation sufficient to support important elements it was required to establish under the law," said US District Judge Leonard Davis, according to Reuters.
The judge also noted that the damages set by the jury, $208.5m per infringement, were much too high. He refused Apple's request for a new trial and upheld the patents that Mirror Worlds used as the basis for its case.
Neither company was available for comment following the ruling.
