ROME: Toshiba has refreshed its Satellite range of laptops designed to provide business users with affordable high-performance portable machines.
The Satellite L-series includes devices with screens ranging between 13in and 17ins in size.
SMB users are likely to be attracted by the specifications of the Satellite L775 and its 17.3in screen, which makes it a suitable big screen desktop replacement.
The L775 features a TruBrite HD+ display, an LED backlight and a resolution of 1,600 x 900. Customers will be able to choose between Intel Core i5 and i7 processors and a Blu-ray or DVD super multi drive.
The model will support up to 750GB of HDD storage and up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, while selected models will also incorporate USB 3.0 and HDMI ports along with Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity.
The 13.3 Satellite L735 is ideal for entertainment on the move, according to Toshiba, while the 15.6in Satellite L755/L755D is more suited to everyday personal computing.
All of the L-series devices support 2D to 3D conversion, allowing users to play existing 3D effects when connected to a 3D TV.
Toshiba has also refreshed the P-series range with the 15.6in Satellite P750 and 13.3in Satellite P755 models.
These will also be available with a choice of Intel Core i5 and i7 processors and incorporate TruBrite HD display technology.
Specifications are largely the same as the L-series, and Toshiba has provided up to 750GB of HDD storage and support for up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM.
Both models will also allow users to convert 2D content into 3D. The P755 will ship with pair of Nvidia 3D Vision active shutter glasses to view 3D content out-of-the-box.
CPU power remains the key feature for buyers, with 78 per cent looking at this as a priority when purchasing laptops, according to Thomas Teckentrup, general manager of Toshiba Europe.
"The Satellite P-series is for digital entertainment enthusiasts, and comes with top level 3D capabilities," he said.
"A lot of the features now found in the L-series are in high-end devices such as HD screens and Blu-ray players."
The Toshiba Satellite P-series will start shipping in late April and the L-series from May 2011. Prices are yet to be confirmed.
