T-Mobile has announced a deal to carry the Motorola Atrix handset in the UK.

The company has posted a page which allows users to sign up and receive further information on pre-ordering and availability. Prices and release dates for the handset were not given.

The deal will make T-Mobile the second UK carrier to announce a deal with Motorola to offer the Atrix in the country. Orange revealed in January that it would be carrying the smartphone. That release is tentatively slated for the second quarter of this year.

The Motorola Atrix was among the highest-profile devices to be introduced this year at CES. The Android-based smartphone sports a dual-core Tegra 2 processor running at 1GHz, 1GB of memory, 16GB of built-in storage and support for removable MicroSD storage.

Motorola has also touted the versatility of the Atrix. The device is designed to work with a docking station that doubles as a notebook terminal.

When connected, the dock uses the storage and processing power of the handset to access handset data through the larger screen and speakers of the notebook.

The Atrix is part of a line of Android handsets which have been credited with helping to bring Motorola record profits over the past year and a renewed status among the top handset vendors.

Earlier this year Motorola added tablets to its Android lineup when it released the Xoom. That device is set for release in the UK early next month.
