Users of LogMeIn's remote access client application Ignition can now download an update that provides the ability to remotely view, transfer and save files on Apple devices, including the iPad 2.

The newest version of the application software also offers the ability to transfer files between desktop devices, either a PC or Mac, via their Apple device, so workers can always ensure they have the most recent document at the desktop device they are using.

LogMeIn's vice president of access and management, Andrew Burton, told V3.co.uk that offering this ability would help make workers more productive by allowing them to work or view information remotely.

"With this update you can seamlessly move data between computers and Apple devices so you can access files on your device even if you don't have an internet connection by storing them locally," he explained.

"A lot of customers told us they wanted this functionality so they can always access key files and data easily, such as being able to pull over PDF documents to their device if they need to work on it when on-the-go."

Burton explained that the firm had added the ability for users to remotely wake a machine that is in sleep mode from their Apple device.

He added that the update had been tuned to work with the new iOS 4.3 update and particularly with the iPad 2's improved multi-tasking features to offer users faster speeds when using the application.

The updated product can be used on all iOS devices including the iPad 2, iPad, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch and is available now, either free for existing customers or is available as a one-off purchase of £17.99 from the app store.
