Dell Vostro 3000

Dell has released a new line of notebooks for its Vostro small business brand that boast increased battery life and updated collaboration tools.

The company said that the Vostro 3000 line would extend battery life as long as 12 hours. The 3000 line will offer 13, 14, 15 and 17in screen sizes and will sport Intel's latest Core processors.

Dell said that the new models were designed in large part for collaboration tools and services. All models, save for the 13in design, will feature an embedded HD resolution camera and a digital array microphone. The notebooks will also be pre-installed with Skype and feature a customisable button to launch the VoIP service.

The company believes that the features will appeal to SME users increasingly looking to use collaboration and conferencing platforms.

"Whether you are pitching, analysing, partnering or managing, the new Vostro 3000 series is designed to keep you collaborating with colleagues, partners and clients," said Dell consumer and SMB product group vice president Sam Burd

"With the latest Vostro collaboration enhancements, entrepreneurs have a sleek, capable technology tool that helps them impress no matter the size of their business or technology budget."

Other features on the notebooks include USB 3.0 support, built-in fingerprint scanners and Trend Micro Worry-Free Business security software bundled with all models.

The company said that it plans to launch the new Vostro 3000 models in the US on 22 March. UK pricing and availability was not available.
