Absolute Software is targeting corporate users of Android devices with new software designed to protect against data theft and lost content.
The company is currently running a closed beta of Computrace Mobile for the Android Platform, which also includes lifecycle management and geo-location software for tracking lost or stolen devices.
The tool should reduce operational and management costs for organisations that provide Android smartphones and tablets to staff, the firm said.
Absolute Software expects that enterprises will also benefit from the ability to wipe a stolen handset, and display its whereabouts and route taken on a map.
"IT organisations need a unified solution that allows them to track and protect multiple devices on different platforms across the entire organisation, " said Rob Chase, chief operating officer at Absolute Software.
"Computrace Mobile delivers that capability to organisations, providing a complete view into their mobile landscape."
Chase added that the product offers a "single pane of glass" to improve manageability, and could help companies reduce losses owing to "data breaches, compliance and inefficient allocation".
