Samsung has added to its range of enterprise printers, boosting business options with six units that offer lower cost of ownership, faster printing and ease of use.

The printers, which are networked duplex units, are aimed and small and medium sized businesses that perhaps have struggled with their printer footprint and its management.

There are five models, two multifunction units called the SCX-4835FR and SCX-5639FR, a wireless SCX-5739FW, and the ML-3312ND, ML-3712ND and ML-3712DW, which Samsung said will lower total cost of ownership and offer "hassle-free" printing.

"Samsung is anticipating the needs of our business customers as they continue to increase expectations for safer, more intuitive print options," said Ken Colby, director of printer marketing at Samsung Electronics Enterprise Business Division.

"In our latest line of printers we are introducing features like anti-jam technology and Secure Pull Printing that are indispensable for a more efficient workplace."

The SCX-4835FR, SCX-5639FR and wireless SCX-5739FW printers have the most interesting security features, and Samsung said that they will stop anyone, other than the original user, picking up a document.

The printer asks for an authentication code before releasing any documents, meaning that sensitive information will not fall into the wrong hands or sit idle in the printer tray.

Samsung suggested that the Secure Pull Printing feature will find favour in financial, governmental and healthcare environments.

The ML-3712ND and ML-3712DW printers include Samsung's proprietary anti-jam roller technology which it said will cut maintenance time.

The printers, along with the SCX-5639FR and SCX-5739FW models, use high-yield toners which should lower the cost per page.

For example, Samsung said that ML-3312ND and SCX-4835FR toner cartridges could print up to 2,000 and 5,000 pages respectively.

Both lines include eco-friendly features and let users adjust settings on a job-to-job basis in order to save energy and cut down on paper. Also aiding office ambiance is the printers' low noise output, which Samsung puts at around 52 decibels.

Samsung will start shipping the units this March. V3.co.uk has requested specific UK pricing information, and is waiting for a response.
