Taiwanese hardware manufacturer Mitac is set to launch a range of all-in-one touch-based PCs based on Intel's Sandy Bridge processors and aimed at business and consumer buyers.

Due to be announced at CeBIT in Hanover next month, the Maestro 680 and Maestro 650 are integrated into a touch-screen monitor, combining a space-saving design with great performance and power efficiency, according to Mitac.

Both models are based on 65W versions of Intel's quad-core and dual-core Sandy Bridge processors, enabling them to save energy without compromising on performance.

The Maestro 680 has a 24in screen, while the Maestro 650 has a slightly smaller display at 21in.

Mitac president Billy Ho said that all-in-one PCs will be a major focus for the company this year.

"By partnering with Intel we ensure that our all-in-one Maestro 680 and Maestro 650 have great performance not only running the operating system and applications but also graphics processing," he said.

Interesting features of the new models are an integrated light sensor, which allows the system to adjust brightness to the ambient light conditions, and a motion sensor that can detect whether anyone is using the system.

An Eco button on the front panel of each Maestro also allows the user to save energy by decreasing the brightness of the panel.

Both models have HD webcams to support videoconferencing, built-in surround sound speakers, and an HDMI input allowing the system to be used as a monitor.

Pricing and availability dates have yet to be announced.
