IT consultancy firm Capgemini has announced a partnership with VMware to deliver a range of enterprise tools and services designed to ease businesses into virtualisation.
The Virtualisation to Business technology will be provided by VMware, while Capgemini will offer insight and support, the firms said.
Capgemini explained that virtualisation is now a significant part of the chief information officer's agenda and, along with the use of cloud computing services, is changing infrastructures.
Consuming IT as a service allows IT departments to show their true worth, according to Scott Aronson, vice president of global accounts and vCloud market development at VMware.
"As enterprises move through their journey to adopting IT as a service, they continuously increase the strategic value of IT by reducing costs and improving responsiveness to business demands," he said.
"The resulting agility and quality of service improvements will not only help develop IT infrastructure, but more importantly aid in business transformation. "
Capgemini and VMware said that the joint initiative will offer a flexible and consumption-based service model as an alternative to in-house investments, lowering costs by consolidating and virtualising servers.
