Adobe has released the first public beta of ColdFusion Builder 2, claiming that the software will help developers test and deploy applications in less time while increasing functionality.

The ColdFusion Builder 2 preview will allow developers to test new features that they can expect in the final release, the firm said.

The software will help developers to build better rich internet applications when used in conjunction with other Adobe software, such as ColdFusion 9 and Flash, according to Adobe.

"The ColdFusion Builder 2 beta enables users to take control of their development environment," said Anup Murray, director of product marketing at Adobe.

"With this release we've introduced new functionality that significantly speeds the development of applications and accelerates projects, saving time and money."

ColdFusion Builder 2 is based on the Eclipse integrated development environment, and brings professional coding tools, server management, testing tools and deployment features that should let software teams take applications from the drawing board to the desktop in as little time as possible.

Ease of use and productivity features extend to customisable keyboard shortcuts as well as code snippets, formatting and colour coding.

Other features include Smart tab navigation, QuickFix features and Intelligent Code Assist, which offers assistance with CFML, CFScript, HTML, JavaScript and CSS coding.
