Sony has warned consumers to beware of fake spam email bearing the subject title 'SonyStyle user and email address'.
The electronics giant said yesterday that this spam email, which claims to come from 'SonyStyle Customer Service', and requests personal information, including user name, password and email address, is fraudulent.

"This message is not from Sonystyle.com or any other Sony website or entity," said Mike Fasulo, president of Sony Electronics' e-Solutions company.
"The privacy of our customers' personal information is a top priority and we have been working with the appropriate authorities to quickly contain and resolve the situation."
Fasulo added that the company has taken great measures to ensure the security of all Sony Electronics websites, and that there is no indication of any compromises to Sonystyle.com or the security of the site's data.
The company urged consumers that have received this email to discard it.
If someone has fallen victim to the scam and responded to the fraudulent e-mail, Sony advises them to visit www.sony.com/news for more information.
