New SAP services will use data integration software from Business Objects

SAP AG will offer customers a new data migration service to shift data from disparate applications into a SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) infrastructure.

The services, which will use data integration software from Business Objects, will ease customers' data migration projects because they will not have to work with a third-party vendor, according to SAP.

"Data migration requires specialised knowledge of every data source and target that is touched, and SAP understands its own ERP solutions better than any other vendor in the market," said the firm in a statement.

SAP Data Migration will consist of templates, tools and expertise to analyse, extract, cleanse, upload and reconcile data into an SAP ERP environment, the company claimed.

The announcement was made at the Managing Your SAP Data 2008 conference, currently being held in Las Vegas.

SAP also announced a strengthened partnership with Adobe Systems to allow developers to use Flash components to add data visualisation within SAP applications to provide more interactive interfaces.

The Adobe Flash Platform will be added to the SAP NetWeaver Web Dynpro platform.

"By integrating Adobe's well-established tools for developing application interfaces with the power of Web Dynpro, SAP will be taking a leading role in creating business applications that maximise business agility and empower workers to effectively navigate processes and information," said Sanjay Katyal, SAP Global Ecosystem & Partner Group vice president.
