Symantec has teamed up with software developer ChangeBase to provide a platform to reduce testing costs and times for software virtualisation compatibility.
The collaboration enables IT managers to determine automatically whether managed applications in Symantec's Altiris Software Virtualisation Solution (SVS) are ready to be virtualised.
The companies claim that the software can report comprehensively on any issues within two minutes.
ChangeBase offers a software platform which automates the majority of the manual work done around application packaging/management.
Symantec said that quality assurance is an essential process to ensure the smooth migration process, as 70 per cent of the time is spent fixing recurring problems found by installing and running the applications.
The ChangeBase AOK suite will automate this process, and offers an Altiris SVS layering technique which provides each installed application with a protected environment.
The firm claims that that the system eradicates the usual registry or system file clashes that are a constant source of aggravation with traditional Windows setups.
