Enterprise search firm Simplexo is offering workers a new way to access their documents when out of the office.

The firm said the software enables users to find corporate information regardless of where they are, and in a safe and secure manner.

The Search Your Desktop software saves on mobile load and data costs, and removes complexity in searches, letting users access just the files that they need, without loading up the whole desktop, Simplexo said.

This may prove particularly useful when trying to access a report via a smartphone, for example.

Simplexo said that the software could find emails in Outlook and Exchange Server, as well as documents in SharePoint, spreadsheets and database records, and can scour social networking applications such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Ensuring the security of transmissions is 256-bit AES encryption as well as passwords, PIN numbers and end-to-end user verification.

The application can be accessed through web browsers, as well as Android and BlackBerry 6 smartphones. Support for more client platforms will be announced early next year, the firm said.

“Users rapidly become overwhelmed with the process of searching emails, Office documents, and business applications," said Simplexo chief technology officer Simon Bain.

"All have to be searched separately and then once they have done that they then have to remove the irrelevant content and consolidate. Simplexo Search Your Desktop stops that process dead in its tracks."
