Such is the dependence on sex to sell the Internet in China that its government has instigated an award scheme for porn-free portals.
Officials at the Chinese National Internet Civilisation Project say that entertainment portals are obsessed with the idea that they couldn't possibly operate without pornography.
But officials behind the project want this emphasis to change, and are not above using a bit of financial encouragement.
According to the South China Morning Post, China Telecom has offered award winners a discount on their website fees to encourage more civilised practices on the Internet.
The Chinese government is apparently also concerned about the number of sites featuring evil cults and superstition.
