Westminster City Council, something of an innovator in the use of wireless technology, has hosted an arts event aimed at teaching young people about the potential of the technology.
The FreqOUT event, in association with the Institute of Contemporary Art, involved the creation of short films using CCTV kit and handheld GPS systems.
Participants were invited to 'draw' digital pictures and create a live digital CCTV documentary of the evening's activities.
FreqOUT coincided with the beginning of 'Phase 1B' of the wireless city project to make Westminster the first UK city to go wireless.
This phase will involve the extension of the wireless network cross a larger area of Soho and into the Lisson Grove and Churchill Gardens housing estates.
In April 2004 Westminster City Council launched the first phase of its wireless services in Soho, supported by BT, Intel, Cisco, Capgemini, BTSkyNet and Telindus.
