Intel has rolled out a line of ultra low voltage Core processors aimed at ultra-portable notebooks.
The 32nm Core i3, i5 and i7 chips offer a 32 per cent increase in performance and a 15 per cent drop in power consumption, according to Intel, and are designed for small notebooks ranging between 900g and 2.25kg.
"Intel's leadership in 32nm high-k metal gate process technology, combined with breakthrough architecture and design, has enabled thinner, lighter and faster notebooks with terrific battery life," said Mooly Eden, PC client group vice president and general manager at Intel.
"Not only are laptops becoming ultra-portable but, with the new processors inside, users will see faster response times and less waiting."
Intel expects to deploy the new chips in more than 40 different notebooks from Asus, Lenovo, Acer, MSI and others.
