Video game developer Valve has announced plans for a new Steam feature called Cloud which will allow users to store profiles and save games online.
Steam is Valve's online delivery and application management platform through which users can purchase, download, access, manage and update games.
Gamers can play any titles in their Steam library from any PC, and can freely download games they have already purchased in the event of formatting or buying a new computer.
Steam Cloud will allow users who regularly access their games from multiple locations to have settings and saved positions automatically brought up when signing in to their account.
Valve's iconic Half-Life series and online games CounterStrike and Team Fortress 2 will be the first to support Steam Cloud.
The new service will be available as part of the Steamworks Developer Kit so that all developers who provide games over the Steam platform can integrate the functionality.
